Alcohol dehydrogenase

EC 1.1.1.1. Also known as alcohol dehydrogenase. An enzyme that catalyzes the following reaction:

R- _CH2OH + NAD R-CHO + reduced NAD

R-CHOH-R′＋NAD R-CO-R′＋reduced NAD

In alcohol fermentation, it is an important enzyme that reduces acetaldehyde to produce ethanol. In addition to ethanol, it is active against the following substrates, in that order: 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, methanol, and glycol. It is found in yeast, higher plants, and the liver. The crystalline preparation from yeast contains nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), Zn, and SH groups in the molecule, has a molecular weight of 1.5 x 10 ⁵ , and an optimum pH of approximately 8. In addition to the above, the existence of another type of alcohol dehydrogenase that uses nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) as a coenzyme is also known in bacteria. [CAS 9031-72-5]

EC 1.1.1.1．アルコール脱水素酵素ともいう．次の反応を触媒する酵素．

　R-CH₂OH＋NAD R-CHO＋還元型NAD

　R-CHOH-R′＋NAD R-CO-R′＋還元型NAD

アルコール発酵においては，アセトアルデヒドを還元してエタノールを生成する重要な酵素である．エタノールのほか，1-プロパノール，1-ブタノール，1-ペンタノール，メタノール，グリコールの順に基質に対する活性を示す．酵母，高等植物，肝臓に含まれる．酵母からの結晶標品は分子中にニコチンアミドアデニンジヌクレオチド(NAD)，ZnおよびSH基を含み，分子量は1.5×10⁵，最適 pH 約8である．上記のほか，ニコチンアミドアデニンジヌクレオチドリン酸(NADP)を補酵素とする別種のアルコールデヒドロゲナーゼの存在も細菌において知られている．[CAS 9031-72-5]
