Its official name is the All Japan Automobile Industry Workers' Union Confederation. It is an affiliated union of RENGO. The national organization for the automobile industry was united in 1948 as Zen Jidosha (All Japan Automobile Industry Workers' Union), but it was dissolved in 1954 due to growing criticism of its leadership in struggles such as the Nissan dispute. After that, there were discussions to reunite based on a democratic labor movement line, and in 1965, the Jidosha Rokyo was formed with 220,000 members from 8 unions in 2 individual companies. This was the first national organization to include all automobile industry workers. In 1972, it developed into Jidosha Soren as a general confederation of unions consisting of manufacturers and their affiliated parts manufacturing, sales, transportation, and other workers.
