…A famous zoo in Stellingen, a suburb of Hamburg, Germany, founded in 1907. It was founded by Carl Hagenbeck (1844-1913), an animal dealer and owner of the world's largest circus. Since his father was also an animal dealer, he took over at the age of 22, sending animals from their native places in Africa to zoos all over Europe, and also successfully held circus shows with animals he had collected himself. The distinctive feature of this zoo was that it was the first in the world to implement a cage-free system, which removed the obstacles of cages and fences between the animals and the audience, and surrounded them with moats that prevented escape. It was also famous for its panoramic format, which gathered animals from the same continent in a certain area and combined the whole area into a single landscape, and this excellent method of exhibiting animals had a great influence on zoos opened around the world afterwards. …
