Born: May 21, 1880 in Targuziu
[Died] July 14, 1967. Bucharest. Romanian poet. Real name Ion Teodorescu. He was active as a symbolist poet in his early years, but entered a monastery for a time and gave up writing poetry. He then wandered around Switzerland and France, living a hard life. He returned to Russia in 1918 and thereafter devoted himself to writing poetry, while maintaining his socialist ideology and religious sentiment. Because of his anti-authority stance, he was arrested twice, in 1918 and 1943, and spent time in prison. His representative works include the poetry collection Cuvinte potrivite (1927), Flori de mucigai (31), Hore (39), Cîntare omului (56), a collection of essays Poarta neagrǎ (30), and the novel Lina (41).

ルーマニアの詩人。本名 Ion Teodorescu。初期には象徴派の詩人として活躍したが，一時修道院に入って詩作を断念，のちスイス，フランスを放浪して苦難の生活をおくり 1918年に帰国，以後社会主義的な思想と宗教的心情を貫きながら詩作に専念した。その反権力的姿勢のため，18年，43年と2回にわたって逮捕され，獄中生活をおくった。代表作，詩集『ふさわしい言葉』 Cuvinte potrivite (1927) ，『黴 (かび) の花』 Flori de mucigai (31) ，『輪舞』 Hore (39) ，『人間賛歌』 Cîntare omului (56) ，評論集『黒い門』 Poarta neagrǎ (30) ，小説『リーナ』 Lina (41) など。
