Hiwa [town] - Hiwa
A former town in Hiba County in northern Hiroshima Prefecture. It is part of the Chugoku Mountains, and forests cover about 90% of the town. It receives a lot of snow. The town practices agriculture and forestry. It produces rice for sake brewing, spinach, and shiitake mushrooms, and raises Japanese beef. Mount Azuma and Mount Hiba in the northeast belong to Hiba-Dogo-Taishaku Quasi-National Park. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Shobara City along with Soryo Town in Kono County, and Saijo Town, Tojo Town, Kuchiwa Town, and Koyasan Town in Hiba County. 131.30 km2 . 2,098 people (2003).
