Persian poet. Born in Kashan. He first served the Zand dynasty, but after the dynasty's fall, he served as poet laureate to King Fat Ali Shah of the Qajar dynasty, laying the foundations for the dynasty's court poets. He is a representative poet who restored the Khorasan style from the Iraqi style, and excelled in odes in particular. He was a prolific poet, and is also known for his epic poem "The Book of Kings," a poem of over 40,000 verses praising his patron king and his prince.
