1905‐ Swiss psychotherapist. Known as one of the first pioneers to attempt a psychotherapeutic approach to schizophrenia, which had previously been considered an inaccessible and mysterious illness. She became a nurse at the psychiatric department of the University of Vienna and received psychoanalytic training from Veddern. She treated her patients with rare qualities and dedication, demonstrating the importance of the "mother" (sacrificial love and patience) in the treatment of schizophrenia. Her clinical experiences are recorded in detail in "The Way to the Soul of the Mentally Ill" (1940). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
