Swiss psychotherapist. Known as one of the first pioneers to attempt a psychotherapeutic approach to schizophrenia, which had previously been considered an inaccessible and mysterious illness. She became a nurse at the psychiatric department of the University of Vienna and received psychoanalytic training from Veddern. She treated her patients with rare qualities and dedication, demonstrating the importance of the "mother" (sacrificial love and patience) in the treatment of schizophrenia. Her clinical experiences are recorded in detail in "The Way to the Soul of the Mentally Ill" (1940).

スイスの精神療法家。従来近づきがたい不可解な病気とされてきた精神分裂病に対して，はじめて精神療法的接近を試みた先駆者の一人として知られる。ウィーン大学精神科の看護婦となって，フェダーンから精神分析的訓練を受けた。たぐいまれな資質をもって献身的に患者に接し，分裂病治療における〈母なるもの〉(献身的な愛と忍耐)の重要性を身をもって実証した。その臨床経験は，《精神病者の魂への道》(1940)に詳しく記録されている。
