He is also said to be the author of the inscription on Fujiwara no Kamatari's monument. He died on the 6th of the 6th month of the leap year of the 2nd year of Emperor Tenmu's reign. After his death, he was awarded the rank of Geshoushii (external purple) and the rank of Daisahei (major general) in his home country. He was also known as Sara Shomei.
