Song of the Buddha - Utanenbutsu
〘Noun〙 A type of popular song, one of the Kadozuke arts. It originated from the singing of nembutsu with a melody, and songs and phrases taken from sekkyo-bushi and joruri were sung to the accompaniment of a gong . It was popular from the Genroku to Kyoho eras ( 1688-1736 ). Utanebutsu. *Hyōban-ki, Shikido Daikyō (1678), 8: "When a monk performs a sermon and tells the story of a low-ranking monk, it is called Utanenbutsu ."

〘Noun〙 = Utanenbutsu (Song Nembutsu) ※Haiku, solo recitation, one thousand verses a day (1675), memorial verse: "We have been singing nembutsu until Shiki (Sekisai) Especially from now on, widow crows (Ryoken)"
