A reading book. Five volumes. Written by Santo Kyoden. Illustrated by Utagawa Toyokuni. Published in Bunka 2 ( 1805 ). The story is based on a tale of revenge involving the family feud of the Washio family of Kuwata, Tanba, and is a fantastical tale that introduces the legend of Princess Seigen Sakura and adds a causal element to it. Later, in response to the positive reception, Kyoden himself published a collection of volumes based on this story, "Princess Sakura's Brush Reblooming ." Akebono Soshi. 読本。五巻。山東京伝作。歌川豊国画。文化二年(一八〇五)刊。丹波桑田の鷲尾家のお家騒動にからむ復讐談を骨子とし、清玄(せいげん)桜姫の伝承を導入して因果談的趣向を重ねあわせた伝奇小説。のち、好評にこたえ、この筋をとって京伝自ら合巻「桜姫筆再咲(ふでのにどざき)」を出している。曙草紙。
