A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Aiko Manor in Sagami Province. At the beginning of the 12th century, Takakane of the Yokoyama Party of the Seven Clans of Musashi killed Aiko Naiki Heidaifu and moved into this area, and it is said that the family took the name Aiko thereafter. In the Kamakura period, the family was listed as a vassal of the shogunate, and Aiko Saburo Suetaka in particular was highly valued as a master archer. Suetaka participated in important ceremonies of the shogunate as an archery instructor, and was the archery instructor of the second shogun, Minamoto no Yoriie, in his childhood. During the Fujino Makigari hunting event in 1193 (Kenkyu 4), known as the time of the revenge of the Soga brothers, he helped Yoriie shoot a deer.
