Sakai - Sakaigo

A language spoken by a minority group in the central part of the Malay Peninsula. It is divided into dialects such as Central Sakai (Semay), Eastern Sakai (Jahut), and Northern Sakai (Temiar), and together with neighboring languages ​​such as Semang (Jahaik) and Semnam, it forms the Senoi language group, which belongs to the Mon-Khmer family, a branch of the Austroasiatic language family. The total number of speakers of the Senoi language group is estimated to be around 30,000. Words are formed by affixes. The ethnic names Sakai and Semang are no longer used today because they are derogatory, and they are referred to by the names in parentheses mentioned above.

マレー半島中部に分布する少数民族の言語。中央サカイ語（セマイ語）、東サカイ語（ジャフット語）、北サカイ語（テミアル語）などの方言に分かれ、近隣のセマング語（ジャハイク語）、セムナム語などとともにセノイ語群を形成し、オーストロアジア語族の支族であるモン・クメール語族に属する。使用人口はセノイ語群全体で約3万人くらいと推定されている。接辞による語形成を行う。なお、サカイ、セマングという民族名は蔑称(べっしょう)のため現在では使用されず、それぞれ前述の括弧(かっこ)内の名称でよばれる。
