A language spoken by a minority group in the central part of the Malay Peninsula. It is divided into dialects such as Central Sakai (Semay), Eastern Sakai (Jahut), and Northern Sakai (Temiar), and together with neighboring languages such as Semang (Jahaik) and Semnam, it forms the Senoi language group, which belongs to the Mon-Khmer family, a branch of the Austroasiatic language family. The total number of speakers of the Senoi language group is estimated to be around 30,000. Words are formed by affixes. The ethnic names Sakai and Semang are no longer used today because they are derogatory, and they are referred to by the names in parentheses mentioned above.
