...A typical freshwater fish that lives in the uppermost waters, it is often found in deeper rivers than the yamame (illustration), and is a popular target for mountain stream fishing. It is called Kirikuchi in Wakayama, Gogi in the Chugoku Mountains, and Imouo in Fukui, and is considered to be a separate lineage of the same species that is distributed independently.
