The belief in Konpira, which originated from a Buddhist deity. Generally, it has become a belief in reverence for Konpira Daigongen in Sanuki (Kotohiragu Shrine in Kotohira Town, Kagawa Prefecture). Konpira Daigongen was a local deity worshipped as the protector of the temple complex of Konkoin Matsuo-ji Temple (Shingon sect), and was served by the shrine priests and priests, but was renamed when Shinto and Buddhism were separated in 1868. The current deity worshipped is Omononushi-no-Mikoto, who is considered to be the manifestation of Konpira according to Shinto theory. Since ancient times, it has been the guardian deity of the villages at the foot of the mountain, where old-fashioned rituals were performed by the headman system, but after the early Edo period, as pilgrimages to shrines and temples became popular, daisanko (substitute lectures) were established, small shrines were enshrined, and it attracted worshippers from all over the country.
