Chen Yucheng (English name)

Japanese: 陳玉成 - ちんぎょくせい（英語表記）Chén Yù chéng

1837‐62
King Ying of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in China. The son of a poor farmer from Tengxian County, Guangxi, he participated in the uprising at the age of 14, and was feared by the Qing army for his bravery. In 1858 (8th year of Xianfeng), he was enfeoffed as king for his achievements in defeating the Qing army's Jiangbei Daying together with Li Xiucheng's troops, and fought in various parts of Jiangnan, Hubei, and Anhui as one of the two pillars of the generals supporting the late Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. In 1862 (1st year of Tongzhi), after losing the defense of the strategic Luzhou in Anhui and retreating to Shouzhou, he was captured due to the betrayal of Miao Peilin, one of the leaders of the Nian army, and executed in Yanjin, Henan Province.

中国，太平天国の英王。広西藤県の貧農の子で，14歳で挙兵に参加，以来その勇猛を以て清軍に恐れられた。1858年(咸豊8)，李秀成部隊と清の江北大営を撃破した功などにより王に封ぜられ，後期太平天国を支える将軍の二本柱の一つとして江南や湖北，安徽各地を転戦した。1862年(同治1)安徽の要衝廬州防衛に敗れて寿州に後退したとき，捻軍の首領の一人苗沛霖（びようはいりん）の裏切りによって捕らえられ，河南省延津で処刑された。
