Mummy (mummy) - mummy (English spelling)

Mummy (mummy) - mummy (English spelling)
A tenable corpse. A corpse that has remained almost intact for a long time in a dry state, and was artificially created in the past. It is mainly used to describe the human body, but can also be applied to animals. In ancient Europe, Egyptian mummies were believed to have medicinal properties, and they were imported to Japan in the 16th century under the name myrrh (mirra) (Portuguese). The word mummy is said to be a corrupted version of this. The English word mummy comes from the Arabic word mūmīya (something treated with bitumen).
