One of the largest rivers in North America. Total length 2,333 km. Drainage area 630,000 ^km2 . Originating in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in the western United States, it crosses the Colorado Plateau, passes through Grand Canyon National Park, flows south, enters Mexico, and empties into the Gulf of California. It is home to the Hoover Dam and Glen Canyon Dam, and is important for irrigating the Imperial Valley downstream and as a water source for Los Angeles.

The river is located in central Argentina, South America. It originates in the Andes, south of Mount Aconcagua, flows southeast, and empties into the Atlantic Ocean south of Bahia Blanca. Most of the drainage basin is semi-arid, dominated by grasslands and partly desert-like.
