《Bride of Abydos》

...This tragic love story, which originated in the Hellenistic period, was passed down to posterity through the Roman poet Ovid's Letters on the Lady, and through the 5th century epic poet Musaeus' Hero and Leander, gave birth to the English poet Marlowe's narrative poem Hero and Leander (published posthumously in 1598). Byron also traveled to Abydos and Sestos himself in 1810, and published The Bride of Abydos three years later. Rubens, Turner and others have also created works based on this story.
