Eilat Incident

... refers to a relatively small warship equipped with anti-ship missiles. In 1967, the Israeli destroyer Eilath was sunk by three anti-ship missiles fired from a missile boat of the Arab League (now Egypt) (Eilat Incident). This incident in which a warship was sunk by an anti-ship missile made the navies of various countries aware of the effectiveness of anti-ship missiles and missile boats, and since then missile boats have been planned and built in various countries.
