Koremune Clan

Japanese: 惟宗氏 - これむねし

During the Heian period, this clan made its living in Myohodo (the study of legal codes) and produced many famous Myohodo scholars. Originally surnamed Hatanokimi, the clan's main base was in Kagawa County, Sanuki Province, and it was a clan of immigrants who claimed to be descendants of King Yuttsu, son of King Gongman, grandson of the 12th emperor of Qin Shi Huang. In the mid-9th century, they moved their domain to Heian-kyo, and in 883 (Gangyo 7), they became Koremune Ason along with fellow clan members Hata no Sukune and Hata no Kimizumi. After the brothers Naomune and Naomoto were appointed as doctors of law in succession, other successors included Yoshitsune, presumed to be Naomune's son, Kinkata, Naomoto's son, the Shogun, Yukiaki and Kinhira, presumed to be the Shogun's sons, and Tadasuke, Tadamasa, and Sukemasa, thought to be the sons of Tadaaki, all of whom passed on the family teachings.

平安時代，明法道(律令学)を家業とし，著名な明法家が輩出した氏族。もと秦公（はたのきみ）姓で，讃岐国香川郡を本貫地とし，秦始皇帝12世の孫功満王の子融通王の苗裔と称する渡来系氏族。9世紀なかばに平安京に貫を移し，883年(元慶7)，同族の秦宿禰，秦忌寸とともに惟宗朝臣となる。直宗（なおむね）･直本（なおもと）の兄弟があいついで明法博士に任じて以後，直宗の子と推定される善経（よしつね），直本の子公方（きんかた），公方の子と推定される致明（ゆきあき）･公平（きんひら），致明の子とみられる允亮（ただすけ）･允政(允正)（ただまさ）･輔政（すけまさ）など，いずれも家学を伝える。
