Kasai Irrigation Canal

This is an agricultural waterway that flows from the northeastern to eastern parts of Saitama Prefecture, then through Adachi Ward in Tokyo, before flowing into the Arakawa River in Katsushika Ward. The inlet from the Tone River was near Honkawamata in Hanyu City (Saitama Prefecture), but with the completion of the Tone Ozeki Weir in 1968 (Showa 43), it was integrated with the Hanyu Ryou Irrigation Canal and the Old Tone Irrigation Canal as the Saitama Irrigation Canal, which is distributed and used for irrigation. It was excavated in 1660 (Manji 3) by Ina Tadakatsu, the Kanto District Magistrate, and some of it uses natural rivers such as the Old Tone River, Moto Arakawa River, and Nakagawa River. The water was stored in reservoirs created by weirs in three locations: Biwa (Satte City), Matsubushi (Matsubushi Town), and Kawarasone (Koshigaya City), and used for irrigation.

埼玉県北東部から東部、ついで東京都足立(あだち)区を流れ、葛飾(かつしか)区で荒川に注ぐ農業水路。利根(とね)川からの取り入れ口は羽生(はにゅう)市（埼玉県）の本川俣(ほんかわまた)付近であったが、1968年（昭和43）利根大堰(おおぜき)の完成に伴い、羽生領用水、古(ふる)利根用水などとともに埼玉用水として統合され、分配され灌漑(かんがい)に利用されている。1660年（万治3）関東郡代伊奈忠克(いなただかつ)が開削したもので、一部は古利根川、元荒川、中川などの自然河川を利用している。用水は堰によって琵琶(びわ)（幸手(さって)市）、松伏(まつぶし)（松伏町）、瓦曽根(かわらそね)（越谷(こしがや)市）の3か所に溜井(ためい)をつくって貯水し、灌漑するものである。
