Date of birth and death unknown. He was a government official in the mid-Heian period and a member of the Myobo family. Also known as "sukeaki," he was the grandson of a shogun and the great-grandson of Naomoto. He became a Myobo doctor around 984 (Eikan 2), and subsequently held the positions of Kageyushi no Suke, Saemon no Gon no Suke, and Kebiishi no Suke. In 998 (Chōtoku 4), he was given the surname Yoshimune, and in 1006 (Kanko 3), he was promoted to the rank of Ju Shiji (Junior Fourth Rank). During this time, he played an active role in the suspension of Dazai no Daini Fujiwara Sakemasa over the dispute with Usa Jinnin, and in the denunciation of the rebellion of the brothers Fujiwara Korechika and Takaie. His insight is praised as the greatest scholar of his time. His books such as "Seiji Yoraku" (included in "Kokushi Taikei"), "Ruiju Hanshu", "Ruiju Ritsuryo Keikan Mondo Shiki" and his diary "Soaki" were highly valued by lawyers of the time.

生没年不詳。平安中期の官人で明法家(みょうぼうか)。「すけあき」とも読まれ、公方(きんかた)の孫。直本(なおもと)の曽孫(そうそん)。984年（永観2）ころ明法博士(はかせ)となり、以後、勘解由使次官(かげゆしのすけ)、左衛門権佐(さえもんのごんのすけ)、検非違使佐(けびいしのすけ)などを歴任。998年（長徳4）令宗(よしむね)姓を賜り、1006年（寛弘3）従(じゅ)四位下に進んだ。この間、宇佐神人(うさじにん)との争いをめぐる大宰大弐(だざいのだいに)藤原佐理(すけまさ)の停任や、藤原伊周(これちか)・隆家兄弟の謀反糾弾に活躍した。その識見は当代第一の大学者とたたえられている。著書『政事要略』（『国史大系』所収）、『類聚(るいじゅう)判集』『類聚律令(りつりょう)刑官問答私記』や日記『宗阿記』などは当時の法律家に重用された。
