Born: November 6, 1878 in Katowice, Silesia [Died] September 19, 1965. New York German and American neurologist and psychiatrist. He served as professor at the universities of Königsberg, Frankfurt, and Berlin, but was pursued by the Nazi regime and moved to the United States (1935). He served as professor at Columbia University and Tufts University before opening his own practice. He moved from neurology and psychopathology to psychology, and his work is based on a biological, organism-wide view that is relatively close to Gestalt theory. His empirical research includes the relationship between brain damage and defects in perception and motor function, as well as the problem of aphasia. His major works include Der Aufbau des Organismus (1934) and Human Nature in the Light of Psychopathology (46). Goldstein |
