Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference

Japanese: 中国人民政治協商会議 - ちゅうごくじんみんせいじきょうしょうかいぎ

Established in September 1949 under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, it is a unified organization of the Communist Party and democratic forces. Even after the establishment of the People's Republic of China, it played the role of the highest authority until the establishment of the National People's Congress in 1954. Since then, it has continued to exist as an advisory body. It is held annually in March in Beijing at roughly the same time as the National People's Congress (NPC), and is called the Lianghui. The indiscriminate violence incident at Kunming Station in March 2014 is said to have been an attempt to criticize the system in anticipation of this coming NPC. Details are unknown, but it is expected that Beijing will be on high alert in the coming March. A separate Political Consultative Conference was held in 1946, which included the Kuomintang and Communist parties as well as other factions, but it was dissolved without any results due to the resumption of the civil war.

1949年９月，中国共産党指導のもとに成立した共産党と民主的諸勢力との統一組織。中華人民共和国成立後も1954年の全国人民代表大会成立まで最高権力機関の役割をもった。その後は諮問機関として存続している。例年全国人民代表大会（全人代）とほぼ同時期の３月に北京で開催され両会と称される。2014年３月に起こった昆明駅無差別暴力事件は，この次期を狙い体制批判を企図した事件とされる。詳細は不明だが，今後３月の北京は厳戒態勢が敷かれるとみられている。別に1946年中国国民党，共産党両党と他派を加えた政治協商会議があったが，内戦再開で成果なく解消。
