Proprioceptive reflex

Receptors (muscle spindles, Golgi tendon organs, joint receptors, vestibular labyrinth receptors) located in muscles, tendons, joints, vestibular labyrinth, etc. that provide information about the position and movement of the body are called proprioceptors, and reflexes triggered by appropriate stimulation of proprioceptors are called proper reflexes. These reflexes are involved in muscle tone and maintaining an upright posture. The tonic neck reflex and tonic labyrinth reflex seen in decerebrate animals (experimental animals whose brains have been removed or whose central nervous system has been severed) are also proper reflexes, and are postural reflexes in which muscle spindles in the neck muscles and the vestibular labyrinth, respectively, are stimulated to change the tension of the muscles in the limbs.

筋，腱，関節，前庭迷路などにあって，身体の位置や動きに関する情報をもたらす受容器(筋紡錘，ゴルジの腱器官，関節の受容器，前庭迷路受容器)を固有受容器といい，固有受容器に対する適当な刺激によって引き起こされる反射を固有反射という。この反射は筋緊張，直立姿勢の維持等に関与する反射である。除脳動物(脳を切除するか，中枢神経を切断した実験動物)でみられる緊張性頸反射，緊張性迷路反射も固有反射で，それぞれ頸筋の筋紡錘および前庭迷路が刺激されて四肢の筋の張力が変化する姿勢反射である。
