Qum is a city in Markazi Province in north-central Iran. It is located about 130 km southwest of Tehran, straddling both banks of the Qom River, on the outskirts of the Kabir Desert. It is known as a religious city, with about 400 saints and 10 kings, including Abbas II, buried within and around the city, and many pilgrims visit the golden-domed tomb of Fatima, sister of Ali al-Ridda. In the southern part of the city, there are five tombs built in the 14th century, each famous for its magnificent stucco reliefs. The city is famous for its textile industry, and a dam was completed upstream of the Qum River in the early 1970s, and several more are still under construction. クム Qumともいう。イラン中央北部,マルカジー州の都市。テヘラン南西約 130km,コム川の両岸にまたがり,カビール砂漠の周辺部に位置する。宗教都市として知られ,市内外にはおよそ 400人の聖者とアッバース2世など 10人に上る王が埋葬されており,金色のドームをもつアリー・アッリダーの妹ファーティマの墓廟には多くの巡礼者が集る。市の南部には 14世紀に造られた5つの墓陵が集り,それぞれみごとな漆喰の浮彫で名高い。織物を中心とする工業が盛んで,1970年代初期にはクム川上流にダムが完成し,なおいくつか建設中である。イラン縦断鉄道に沿う。人口 68万 1253 (1991) 。
