A former town in Kitakanbara County, central Niigata Prefecture. It occupies the eastern Echigo Plain, on the right bank of the Agano River, and its central town of Yasuda is a strategic location on the Aizu Kaido (National Route 49). Dairy farming is thriving, and the town is known for its Anchi ware and other products. In April 2004, it merged with the villages of Kyogase, Mizuhara, and Sasagami in Kitakanbara County to form Agano City. Area: 40.91 km2 . Population: 10,484 (2003).

Yasuda [town] [Yasuda]

A town in Aki District, eastern Kochi Prefecture. It occupies the lower reaches of the Yasuda River and faces Tosa Bay to the south. The main settlement is on the right bank of the river mouth, and sake and soy sauce are produced in the town. Forced vegetable cultivation is carried out mainly in Tonohama in the west. Koumineji Temple, the 27th temple of the Shikoku 88 Temples, is located here. Area: 52.36 km2 . Population: 2,970 (2010).

高知県東部,安芸(あき)郡の町。安田川下流域を占め,南は土佐湾に面する。主集落は河口の右岸にあり,酒や醤油の生産も盛ん。西部の唐浜(とうのはま)を中心に促成野菜栽培が行われる。四国八十八ヵ所27番札所神峯(こうのみね)寺がある。52.36km2。2970人(2010)。
