Japanese: 小牧･長久手の戦 - こまきながくてのたたかい

A battle that took place over a wide area, centered on Komaki and Nagakute in Owari, between Hashiba (Toyotomi) Hideyoshi and Oda Nobukatsu and Tokugawa Ieyasu. After the death of Oda Nobunaga, Hideyoshi gradually gained power, and the conflict between the two intensified. In March 1584 (Tensho 12), Hideyoshi's forces invaded from the Ise area, and in the meantime, the fire spread to northern Owari, where Ikeda Tsuneoki, who was on Hideyoshi's side, occupied Inuyama Castle, but Ieyasu's position on Komakiyama made it difficult to invade from northern Owari. Ieyasu allied with the Chosokabe clan of Tosa and the Saika and Negoro uprisings of Kii, threatening the rear of Osaka, which delayed Hideyoshi's advance eastward.

羽柴(豊臣)秀吉と織田信雄（のぶかつ）･徳川家康との間で，尾張の小牧･長久手を中心として広範な地域にわたった戦い。織田信長の死後，秀吉がしだいに勢力を得るにしたがい，両者の対立関係は激化した。1584年(天正12)3月秀吉軍は伊勢方面から侵攻し，その間に北尾張に飛火して秀吉方の池田恒興が犬山城を占拠したが，家康が小牧山に布陣したので尾張北部からの侵攻は困難となった。家康は土佐の長宗我部氏や紀伊の雑賀，根来一揆と結び，大坂の背後をおびやかさせたので秀吉の東下が遅れた。
