Mohair (English spelling)
Wool from the Angora goat, or fabric made from it. Angora goats have been bred for 2000 years, mainly in the Ankara region of Turkey, and were imported in the mid-19th century into South Africa, the United States, and Australia, which became producers of Angora goat wool. It is considered the finest goat wool, with a silky luster, long fibers, a smooth texture, stain resistance, and little shrinkage. Turkish wool in particular is of high quality and has a good luster. Its chemical composition is roughly the same as sheep's wool, but it contains little sulfur. It is used for blankets, shawls, overcoats, high-quality women's clothing, summer clothing, and high-quality velvet.
