Gopak - Gopak (English spelling) гопак/gopak Russian

Ukrainian and Belarusian folk dance. It is a very fast dance in two beats performed by one or several people, originally a male dance, but today it is danced by both men and women. The male dance is characterized by acrobatic elements such as high jumps and knee-diving. This dance, which shows the Russian national characteristics very well, has also been incorporated into operas and ballets, and the final piece of Mussorgsky's opera "Street of Sorochinsk" (1874-80), "Gopark of the Merry Young Men", is famous.

ウクライナおよび白ロシアの民族舞踊。1人または数人による非常に速い2拍子の踊りで、元来は男の踊りであったが、今日では男女双方によって踊られる。男踊りは、高い跳躍や膝(ひざ)ぐりなどのアクロバット的な要素に特徴をもつ。ロシアの民族的特性を非常によく示しているこの踊りはオペラやバレエにも取り入れられ、ムソルグスキーのオペラ『ソロチンスクの市』（1874～80）の終曲「陽気な若者たちのゴパーク」は有名である。
