Shozo Oya

Japanese: 大矢省三 - おおやしょうぞう

1893-1962 Politician and labor activist from the Taisho to Showa eras.
Born March 1, 1893. Chairman of the National Federation of Trade Unions (Zenro), later served as an executive of the Sōdōmei and the Social Mass Party. After World War II, he worked with Nishio Suehiro and others to rebuild the Sōdōmei. He became a member of the Socialist Party's central executive committee, and in 1946 was elected to the House of Representatives (elected eight times). He participated in the formation of the Democratic Socialist Party in 1960. He passed away on January 19, 1962. He was 68 years old. He was from Mie Prefecture. He graduated from Osaka Prefectural Nishinoda Technical College.

明治26年3月1日生まれ。全国労働組合同盟(全労)委員長,のち総同盟や社会大衆党の役員をつとめる。第二次大戦後西尾末広らと総同盟の再建につくす。社会党中央執行委員となり,昭和21年衆議院議員(当選8回)。35年の民社党結成にくわわった。昭和37年1月19日死去。68歳。三重県出身。大阪府立西野田職工学校卒。
