...At the end of the 19th century, America also saw fierce competition among popular magazines. Magazines such as Cosmopolitan (1886), McClure's Magazine (1893), and Munsey's Magazine (1893) lowered their prices to attract readers. National Geographic Magazine, launched in 1888, was a magazine aimed at ordinary households that introduced rare scenery around the world through beautiful photographs, and its circulation steadily increased, reaching approximately 10 million copies today.
