Five-year plan - gokanenkeikaku

A long-term plan for the national economy implemented in socialist countries. The first plan was the Gosplan, which was implemented in the Soviet Union in 1928. Eastern European countries also implemented it after 1951. In some cases, the plan was changed to a seven-year plan midway. Even capitalist countries such as India sometimes implement a five-year planned economy.
