Gunkuzure - Koori Kuzure

Japanese: 郡崩れ - こおりくずれ

In 1657 (Meireki 3), 608 hidden Christians were rounded up, mainly in the Gun region of Omura Domain (Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture). A "kuzure" is an arrest incident, and Gunzure was the first of these. They were imprisoned in five locations - Nagasaki, Omura, Hirado, Saga, and Shimabara - 411 were sentenced to death, 99 were acquitted, 20 were sentenced to life in prison, and 78 died in prison. Due to the strict searches and Buddhist policies that followed, Christianity in Omura Domain was wiped out, with the exception of Kiba and the Sotome region.
