A former town in Senboku District, central Akita Prefecture. It is surrounded by extensive forests. The river basin is a paddy field that produces high-quality rice. Vegetables, tobacco, and other crops are also grown. The town is connected to the Ou Main Line, the Akita Expressway, and National Route 13.
