Kyowa [town] - Kyowa
A former town in Senboku District, central Akita Prefecture. It is surrounded by extensive forests. The river basin is a paddy field that produces high-quality rice. Vegetables, tobacco, and other crops are also grown. The town is connected to the Ou Main Line, the Akita Expressway, and National Route 13. In March 2005, it merged with Omagari City, Senboku District's Kamioka Town, Nishisenboku Town, Nakasen Town, Senboku Town, Ota Town, and Minamisoto Village to become Daisen City. 247.74 km2 . 8,971 people (2003).

Kyowa [town] [Kyowa]

A former town in Makabe district, western Ibaraki prefecture. It occupies the lowlands on the left bank of the Kokai River. Rice and horticulture are thriving here. Watermelons are a local specialty. The Mito Line runs through the town, and the ruins of Niihari Temple (historic site) are located here. In March 2005, it merged with Shimodate city, Sekijo town in Makabe district, and Akeno town to become a city, Chikusei city. Area: 36.24 km2 . Population: 17,096 (2003).
