Anal gland

A pair of secretory glands found in mammals, including carnivores and rodents, that open near the anus. They are scent glands formed from sebaceous glands and secrete a liquid with a strong volatile odor. The strong odor of a skunk and the so-called "last stalk of a weasel" are caused by this secretion. 哺乳類の食肉類，齧歯類などにみられる1対の分泌腺で，肛門の付近に開口する。皮脂腺が変化した臭腺で，揮発性の臭いの強い液体を分泌する。スカンクの出す強烈な悪臭や，いわゆる「イタチの最後っぺ」などはこの分泌液による。
