...They considered the ideal human being to be someone who seeks enlightenment, and called those who devoted themselves to this movement, regardless of age or gender, bodhisattvas. Their religious group was called bodhisattva-gaṇa, in contrast to the traditional religious organization called sangha (saṅgha), which was mainly made up of monks.
