Hengchun

Japanese: 恒春 - こうしゅん

A city located near the southern tip of Taiwan Province, China. Nearby are tourist resorts such as Kenting Park, which features a collection of tropical plants, Eluanbi, the southern tip of Taiwan, and Sichongxi Hot Springs, and Hengchun is the base for these and the commercial center. The lighthouse was built on the raised coral plateau of Eluanbi in 1882 (Guangxu 8), and is famous among sailors. "Eluan" is a transliteration of the Paiwan language and means "sail." In addition, in parts of the town, the city walls and gates built in 1875 (Guangxu 1) during the Qing Dynasty remain.

中国，台湾省の南端近くに位置する都市。付近には熱帯植物を集めた墾丁公園，台湾南端の鵞鑾鼻（がらんび），四重渓温泉などの観光保養地があり，恒春はその基地であるとともに，商業の中心地。なお鵞鑾鼻の隆起サンゴ礁の台地には，1882年(光緒8)灯台が設けられ，航海するものの間では有名である。なお，〈鵞鑾〉はパイワン族の言葉の音訳で〈帆〉を意味する。また町の一部には清朝時代の1875年(光緒1)に築造された城壁や城門が残っている。
