Rhexanella verrucosa (food for sea bream)

Rhexanella verrucosa (food for sea bream)
A small isopod crustacean of the family Sparidae that attaches to and parasitizes the oral cavity and gill cavity of Sparidae fish. Its body is yellow or yellowish-white, slightly asymmetrical, and oval-shaped. Males are slightly narrower in width than females, and their body lengths are about 1.5 cm for males and 3 cm for females, showing sexual heteromorphism. However, they are actually protoandrogenous hermaphrodites. Therefore, males later become females and lay eggs. The larvae live a planktonic life, but when they become adults, they live a completely parasitic life. Males and females often parasitize the same host at the same time.
