A Buddhist book from the early Heian period written by Saicho. 3 volumes. Saicho believed that in order to protect the country through Buddhism, it was essential to train pure Mahayana bodhisattva monks. He therefore aspired to establish a new Mahayana ordination platform on Mount Hiei where monks would be qualified to become monks only by receiving the precepts of Mahayana, and requested the Imperial Court to approve the rules for training Tendai monks ("Sangegaku Shoshiki"). The Buddhist community in Nara strongly opposed this, so Saicho refuted Sogo's criticism of the Shijoshiki (one of the Yamaga student ceremonies) and detailed the idea of the precepts in this book. The work is divided into five chapters, and cites 56 clear evidences, explaining the nature of Mahayana temples, the precepts of Mahayana monks as explained in the Bonmokyo Sutra, the manner of the ritual of receiving precepts, and other related matters. It was written in 819 (Kōnin 10) and submitted to the Imperial Court the following year. The establishment of the Mahayana ordination platform was approved on June 11, 822, seven days after the death of Saichō.
