Hypoproteinemia (hypoproteinemia)

Japanese: 低タンパク血症(低蛋白血症) - ていたんぱくけつしょう（英語表記）hypoproteinemia

This refers to a pathologically low state of total protein (normal 6.5-8.0 g/dl) or albumin (normal 3.8-4.8 g/dl) in the blood. Except for cases of hemodilution after major bleeding, etc., this is caused by inadequate protein intake/supply (starvation, malnutrition, pancreatitis, malabsorption syndrome, etc.), impaired synthesis (liver disease, pregnancy), increased breakdown (chronic inflammation such as tuberculosis, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cancer), and loss of albumin (due to ulcerative colitis, nephrotic syndrome, ascites, burns, skin diseases, etc.).

血液中の総タンパク質量(正常値6.5～8.0g/dl)あるいはアルブミン(正常値3.8～4.8g/dl)が病的に低下した状態をいう。大出血後などの血液希釈の場合を除いて，タンパク質摂取･供給不足(飢餓，栄養不足，膵炎，吸収不良症候群など)，合成障害(肝臓疾患，妊娠)，分解亢進(結核などの慢性炎症，甲状腺機能亢進症，糖尿病，癌)，そしてアルブミンの喪失(潰瘍性大腸炎，ネフローゼ症候群，腹水，火傷･皮膚疾患などによる)により生じる。
