Roman governor. Born of Cyrus in Syria. After serving as a commander in Emperor Lucius Verus' Parthian campaign, he became governor of Syria and all of Asia. In 172, he put down a revolt in Egypt. In 175, when rumors spread that Emperor Marcus Aurelius had died on the Danube, he called himself emperor and ruled Egypt and the Oriental provinces except for Bithynia and Cappadocia for about three months, but the revolt failed when Emperor Marcus Aurelius returned to Rome, and he was killed by his own soldiers.

ローマの総督。シリアのキュロス出身。ルキウス･ウェルス帝のパルティア遠征に指揮官として従軍した後，シリア総督，全アシア総督となる。172年エジプトにおける反乱を鎮圧。175年，マルクス･アウレリウス帝がドナウ川で死亡したという噂が広まると，自ら皇帝と称し，ビテュニアとカッパドキアを除くオリエント諸属州とエジプトを約3ヵ月間支配したが，マルクス･アウレリウス帝のローマ帰還により反乱は失敗し，自分の兵士により殺された。
