The military and administrative system of Mongolia established by Genghis Khan was organized as a military and administrative basis to replace the old clan system. Genghis Khan divided the nomadic peoples under his rule into 95 groups of 1,000 households, which were then divided into units of 100 households and 10 households, and appointed leaders for each. The number of 1,000 households increased as the empire expanded, contributing to the centralization of the empire.
