Anh Duc

Vietnamese author. Commonly known as Bui Duc Ai. During the Indochina War that began in 1946, he joined an anti-French organization in his hometown in the south, where he was born, in opposition to the Bao Dai regime, but moved to the north in accordance with the Geneva Accords in 1954. When the pro-American regime of Ngo Dinh Diem was established in Saigon in 1955, he infiltrated South Vietnam as a member of the southern branch of the Workers' Party and joined the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. In 1961, he became a member of the Liberation Writers Association when it was formed. From then on, while working on the Liberation Front's propaganda work amid the flames of war, he continued to write reportage and short stories about the Vietnam War.

ベトナムの作家。通称名ブイ･ドゥック･アイBui Duc Ai。1946年に始まったインドシナ戦争中に，バオダイ政権に反対して出身地の南部で抗仏組織に参加したが，54年のジュネーブ協定に従って北部に移った。55年にサイゴンにゴ･ディン･ジェム親米政権が樹立されると，労働党南方支部の一員として南ベトナムに潜入，南ベトナム解放民族戦線に加わり，61年解放作家協会の結成と同時にその会員となった。以後は戦火の中で解放戦線の宣伝工作に従事しながら，ベトナム戦争に取材したルポルタージュや短編小説を書き続けた。
