1935‐ Vietnamese author. Commonly known as Bui Duc Ai. During the Indochina War that began in 1946, he joined an anti-French organization in his hometown in the south, where he was born, in opposition to the Bao Dai regime, but moved to the north in accordance with the Geneva Accords in 1954. When the pro-American regime of Ngo Dinh Diem was established in Saigon in 1955, he infiltrated South Vietnam as a member of the southern branch of the Workers' Party and joined the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. In 1961, he became a member of the Liberation Writers Association when it was formed. From then on, while working on the Liberation Front's propaganda work amid the flames of war, he continued to write reportage and short stories about the Vietnam War.
