Kagidono - Key

...The fish-shaped crossbars were especially called "north-facing crucian carp" or "entering sea bream," and were commonly referred to as "hook-entering fish," with the hook at the end facing the entrance to the house and the head of the fish facing the back of the house. The Jizai Kagi was thought to be a place where the god of fire resided, and was given honorifics such as Kagidono or Kagisama. It was said that by tying a one-mon coin or a ladle to the Jizai Kagi, it would ward off eye diseases or act as a spell to prevent fires, and that if one lost something, one could "trust the monkey" by tying a small monkey to the key with a string, and it would come back to life....
