〘 noun 〙① = inazuma (lightning) ① {season: autumn} [10-volume Wamyōshō (around 934)] ※ Haikai, Shinrui-dai-hōkūshū (1793), Autumn "The sound of lightning makes the rice leaves look like rice flowers (Rokka)" ② (used figuratively) An expression that makes the other person feel a certain way for an instant. ※ Haikai, Cha no Saushi (1699), "The scent of a drunkard waiting for snow, and the lightning flashes (Basho ) " [Etymology] Refers to the same phenomenon as "inazuma" and has appeared together since the Heian period, but "inabika" is used in prose and not in waka.

〘名〙① ＝いなずま（稲妻）①《季・秋》〔十巻本和名抄（934頃）〕※俳諧・新類題発句集（1793）秋「稲光音せで稲の葉分かな〈六花〉」② (比喩的に用いて) ある気持を瞬間的に相手に感じさせるような表情。※俳諧・茶のさうし（1699）「雪をまつ上戸の㒵(かほ)やいなびかり〈芭蕉〉」[語誌]「いなずま」と同じ現象を指し、平安時代から共に見えるが、「いなびかり」は散文に用いられ、和歌では用いない。
