A Rinzai sect monk of the Muso school who is representative of Gozan literature in the late Muromachi period. He was also known as Han'in, Gichiku, and Taisho. He entered Shokoku-ji Temple at the age of five, and became a disciple of Yodo Chuzai, later succeeding him as a monk. After passing through Keitoku-ji Temple, Toji-ji Temple, and other temples, he entered Shokoku-ji Temple on March 23, 1495 (Meiō 4), and in February of the following year, 1496, he moved to Rokuon-in Temple at Shokoku-ji Temple, where he was in charge of the monks' register. He passed away on March 2, Eishō 15, at Gichiku-ken in Jisho-in Temple at Shokoku-ji Temple. His collection of poetry and prose is the 17 volumes of the "Kanrin Koroshu", and his diaries include "Tojiji Nikkei", "Nichiyo Zanmai", "Nishoki", and "Nikken" (collected in the "Rokuon Nichiroku").
