Japanese: 観閲式 - カンエツシキ

A ceremony held by the Self-Defense Forces. It is equivalent to the military parades held by the former army and other countries, and includes a salute of honor, a parade, and a march by troops.
[Additional information] It is held when the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, the Vice-Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Office, or the Chief of Staff officially inspects a unit for the first time after assuming their position, or at the occasion of the Self-Defense Forces Flag Presentation Ceremony, Awards Ceremony, Celebration Ceremony, Inauguration Ceremony, and Leaving Ceremony. In addition, as part of the Self-Defense Forces Day events, the Ground Self-Defense Force's Central Review, the Maritime Self-Defense Force's Fleet Review, and the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Review are held in rotation around October every year. In addition to the Self-Defense Forces, the Japan Coast Guard and fire brigades also hold their own reviews.

Japanese:

自衛隊で行われる儀式の一つ。旧陸軍や諸外国の観兵式に相当するもので、栄誉礼、巡閲、部隊による行進などが行われる。
[補説]内閣総理大臣・防衛大臣・防衛副大臣・統合幕僚長・幕僚長が就任後初めて部隊を公式に視察する場合や、自衛隊旗授与式・表彰式・祝賀式・着任式・離任式などの際に行われる。また、自衛隊記念日の行事の一環として、毎年10月頃に、陸上自衛隊の中央観閲式、海上自衛隊の観艦式、航空自衛隊の航空観閲式が持ち回りで開催される。自衛隊のほか、海上保安庁や消防団も、それぞれ観閲式を行う。
