The first aspect in which modern economics, which considers itself a science, interacts with philosophy is in the area of scientific methodology surrounding the deduction and verification of hypotheses. In short, the main task of economic philosophy is to explore the conditions for making the nature of economics similar to that of natural science. As a result, KR Popper-style discussions of empirical falsifiability occupy the center of economic philosophy, and interpretations of the meaning of axioms, postulates, or basic assumptions that form the premise of theoretical hypotheses tend to be dismissed as belonging to metaphysics.
