…The mathematics of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, and China, and even Greek mathematics, except for those strongly influenced by Euclid, all share this characteristic. The earliest Indian work to clearly show the influence of Euclid's Stoicheia is Kamalakara's astronomy book (1658), and the first Sanskrit translation is thought to be Jagannatha's Rakhaganita (Mathematics of Lines) (1730s). The oldest surviving document belonging to the Ganita in the strict sense is the Ganitapada, a chapter in the Āryabhatiya (499) by Āryabhata. …
